President's Message
Dear Longwood,
As a neighborhood of non-profits, the mission driven work that each of our member institutions conducts is a defining element of what makes our corner of Boston so unique and impactful. In addition to all the good work that happens within the four corners of our academic, medical, and cultural institutions here in Longwood – we know that our impact extends well beyond the LMA and into other communities. Take for instance how Longwood’s non-profit hospitals support nearly 100 community-based organizations in and around Boston that residents rely on, extending the impact of our 213-acre district to people across the City of Boston and beyond.

I recently had the pleasure of spending an evening with one of Longwood’s neighboring non-profit organizations, the Fenway Community Development Corporation (Fenway CDC), at their annual Ball. The Fenway CDC is one of the many organizations that for years has received direct financial support from the non-profit institutions in Longwood. Non-profits helping non-profits demonstrates a shared commitment to improving lives, building community, and supporting the important work that each conduct, and in turn, the residents who depend on them for their services.
Together with City Councilor Sharon Durkan, Boston's Chief of Housing Sheila Dillon, and Abe Menzin of Samuels & Associates at the Fenway CDC annual ball
We know that no one corner of our city can thrive without the support of surrounding communities, and I am grateful for the rich array of organizations in the Boston area that work hard to maintain and improve the lives of those who call this city home and allow us to extend our culture of learning and care far beyond the borders of the LMA.
Regards,
Dave Sweeney

New Bike Posts on Brookline Avenue
The Longwood Collective Area Planning team recently installed new and improved bike delineators on Brookline Avenue, north of Longwood Avenue. With 10 new posts on each side of Brookline Avenue, these new delineators replace and improve upon previous installations that have been damaged over time by traffic.
These continuous infrastructure repairs are crucial to the work of the Longwood Collective. Whether you commute to the LMA by bike, foot, car, the T, or shuttle, we are always working to optimize your experience.

The Klarman Building is one of the most recent constructions in the LMA, first welcoming patients in April of 2023. With state-of-the-art facilities that allow for excellent care, we hope this beautification upgrade will enhance the experience of those who come to the building to learn, work, or heal.
