A Message from the President
Dear Longwood,
Last winter, our Outside// program introduced its first ever off-season programming in the form of a one-day ice sculpture Winter Stroll. Featuring a variety of displays across 15 sites in the district, we transformed the LMA into a winter wonderland. Students, employees, patients, and visitors all came together to enjoy cookies, coffee, and hot chocolate as they traversed the district, making stops to check out each sculpture.
I’m excited to share that in a few weeks, we will be transforming this one-day event into an ongoing winter activation. Kicking off in February, we will be incorporating some of the best elements of the Winter Stroll into our new vision for a weekly program. There are many new and exciting details to come, so be on the lookout for more information.
The driving force that motivates our Outside// program is the desire to create moments of joy for essential workers, patients, students, employees, and visitors in Longwood. While the summer season provides a variety of great opportunities for this programming, our goal this year was to think outside the box and find ways to incorporate those improvements and joy more regularly through the winter months.
Stay tuned for our formal winter programming announcement and, until then, happy holidays!
Regards,
David Sweeney
President and CEO

Crosswalk Ramp Refresh Complete
The concentration of life-saving care makes safety and accessibility the utmost importance in a district like Longwood. As stewards of the district, we work closely with our partners at the city and state to ensure that the neighborhood is safe and accessible for all modes of transportation. One important detail that makes a big difference is the tactile strips that let visually impaired individuals know that there is a change coming up in the ground surface.
We are very thankful to the Boston Public Works Department for making needed repairs and upgrades to 24 crosswalk ramps in and around the LMA. We appreciate the work they do all year round to keep Boston's streets and sidewalks safe for everyone.
