Outside// resumed and revitalized its programming this year, bringing food trucks, outdoor seating, musical performances, fitness classes, dog petting and adoption, public art displays, games and book carts to patients, students, and visitors from May to October. During this season, Block-by-Block managed Outside//’s day-to-day operations which provided better tracking capabilities from Big Belly maintenance requests to foot traffic at placemaking sites.

Building on its commitment to area planning on behalf of the Longwood Medical and Academic Area (LMA), the Longwood Collective today announced that Jonathan Werner of Everett, MA has been named Senior Transportation Manager for the organization. Werner joins a growing transportation team at the Longwood Collective, which last month named Dorothy Fennell as its new Transportation Planner/Transportation Demand Specialist.

BOSTON – As part of its work in making the Longwood Medical and Academic Area (LMA) greener and healthier, the Longwood Collective together with its partners at the MBTA today announced the successful installation of 12 new healthy and appropriately mature Armstrong Maple trees along the Huntington Avenue MBTA median. Longwood Collective coordinated the tree planting with the MBTA to occur earlier this month while MBTA Green Line tracks along Huntington Avenue were closed for upgrades.

On the 50th anniversary of its founding, MASCO today unveiled its new brand identity—the Longwood Collective—under which it is releasing its first White Paper, which details the successes of mode shift in the Longwood Medical and Academic Area (LMA) over the last 30 years, alongside a landmark Transportation Framework that provides guiding principles and tools for evaluating project proposals that impact mobility within and surrounding the 213-acre LMA.

In a celebration event hosted today, MASCO Inc., the non-profit organization that serves as the chief planner and principal steward of the Longwood Medical and Academic Area (LMA), was honored by The Boston Women’s Workforce Council (BWWC) with its third annual Innovative Initiatives Award for its work in driving measurable progress on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. MASCO’s President and CEO David Sweeney was officially presented with the award, along with co-honorees C-Space and Vertex Pharmaceuticals.
